Born in North Carolina, Jerry Collins has always kept his love for the state prevalent through all his work. In 1976, Mr. Collins graduated Cum Laude from Wake Forest University. He continued his studies at Campbell University, Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, and graduated with Distinction in 1980. That same year is when he entered the general practice of law in Bryson City, located in the Western North Carolina Mountains.

Jerry Collins moved his law office to Murphy, North Carolina in 1982 and has practiced law there for the past 41 years.

Serving the Community

  • Served as an active member of The North Carolina Board of Law Examiners from 1995 through 2003
  • Currently serves as an Emeritus Member of The North Carolina Board of the Examiners
  • Served as the elected representative for the lawyers of the 30th Judicial District on the North Carolina State Bar Council from 2012 through 2021
  • Served as President of the 30th Judicial District Bar Association
  • Served as President of the Tri-County Bar Association
  • Served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Industrial Opportunities, Inc., a sheltered workshop
  • Served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Reach, Inc., a program for battered spouses
  • Served as a Board Member of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce
  • Served as a Board Member for the local chapter of the American Heart Association

Mr. Collins is also a Concealed Carry teacher at Aim Point Shooting School, LLC. It is a subsidiary of Smoky Mountain Shooters Supply Inc, where Mr. Collins serves as President. Mr. Collins is certified by the North Carolina Department of Justice for NRA pistol instruction. He teaches Basic Pistol, Personal Defense Inside the Home, and Personal Defense Outside the Home.

Mr. Collins enjoys all variations of shooting. In his free time, he likes spending time with his grandchildren. He also finds entertainment in Harley Davidson motorcycles, horses, his Llewellyn Setter Lady, grouse hunting, and his farm.
